If you are interested in learning about other countries and their cultures, hosting an international student could be the answer to many of your questions.

Providing an international student with a safe and comfortable place to live and learn is a unique opportunity to learn about people from around the world. Homestay is a wonderful way for students to improve their English, learn more about Canadian culture and meet interesting new people.

An ideal host is someone who..

1. Enjoys learning about other countries and cultures.
   
2. Spends time with students to help them feel at home.
   
3. Provides new students with information about the home routine and neighborhood.
   
4. Shows new students how to get to school for their first day of class.
   
5. Provides varied balanced meals and takes time to find out what the student likes to eat.
   
6. Is consistent with students about maintaining the house rules and school's policies.
   
7. Every new student is just that, NEW!, new to Canada, new to your home, new to the school. It is important to treat every student like your FIRST.
   
8. Keeps the School Accommodation Coordinator informed if any serious issues arise and is open to hearing suggestions from the Coordinator.
   
9. Consistently supports HSP standards and policies.
